DISCOVER THE GÖta Kanal

Today, Göta Kanal is one of Sweden’s most visited and appreciated tourist destinations.
The Göta Kanal, as a whole, stretches 190 kilometers from Sjötorp on Lake Vänern, northeast of Mariestad,
to Mem on the Baltic Sea, just east of Söderköping.

In Västergötland the channel between Vänern and Vättern extends, starting in Sjötorp and ending in Karlsborg.
The canal has 58 locks and runs through varied landscapes.
The Göta Kanal is ideal for hiking, paddling and cycling, although it is often associated with boats.
In our hiking and cycling package Göta Kanal we have combined these activities to offer you a fantastic experience in which you come close to nature and the beautiful canal environment.
The roads next to the Göta Kanal are car-free. Perfect for families with children!

During this fantastic journey you cycle part of the
19 kilometer long Göta Kanal, which has the world’s longest avenue of trees.
On this trip you will also pass some of the 58 locks that can be found along the Göta Kanal.

flat and light bike path that follows the Göta Kanal

By bike and canoe along and on the Göta Kanal you can combine two of the most beautiful ways
to explore the canal.
